Spoor & Fisher Chairperson Tshepo Shabangu honoured with WOZA Award
International Intellectual Property law firm Spoor & Fisher is pleased to announce that it’s Partner and Chairperson of the Partnership, Tshepo Shabangu has won the Werksmans Award presented to the best corporate practising lawyer at the 2019 WOZA Awards. The annual awards recognise women lawyers for their outstanding dedication, achievements and contribution to the profession, whether it be legal services, legal education, human rights or the pro bono sector.
A strong advocate for women, Ms Shabangu was the first black person to be elected as President of the South African Institute of Intellectual Property Law and the first person to be re-elected to that position. Ms Shabangu started the “Lift as You Climb” mentorship programme during her presidency of the SAIIPL and continues to be involved in running it independently.
Earlier this year Ms Shabangu was named as one of WIPR’s Influential Women in IP as well as ranked by Legal 500 EMEA as one of South Africa's IP law experts.
